Attorney General Tong has taken aggressive action to protect Connecticut families from bad actors and to drive down costs.
Ticketmaster: Attorney General Tong is part of a bipartisan coalition of attorneys general continuing its antitrust lawsuit against Ticketmaster and its parent company Live Nation, seeking to restore fair competition in the live concert industry, provide better choices at lower prices for fans, and open venue doors for working musicians and other performance artists.
Bootleg weight loss drugs: Attorney General Tong has taken numerous actions to protect against unsafe bootleg weight loss drugs, including sending cease and desist letters to local med spas offering non-FDA approved medicine. He sued Triggered Brand over its sales of bootleg GLP-1 weight loss drugs, resulting in a recent settlement. Following an investigation, international trade platform Made in China ceased marketing these bootleg products.
Carvana: In 2025, Attorney General Tong reached a $1.5 million settlement with online used car dealer Carvana following hundreds of consumer complaints involving extended delays in title and registration documents, delayed payments to sellers, and deceptive representations of car conditions and features, among other complaints.
Stone Academy: When this for-profit nursing school abruptly closed its doors in 2023, Attorney General Tong took swift action to assist students left in limbo. This resulted in a $5 million settlement with Stone Academy and its owners, along with a series of measures to assist impacted students in completing their education and professional exams.
Solar: Attorney General Tong is leading numerous actions against unfair solar panel sales, marketing and finance tactics. In 2026, he launched an investigation into SunStrong Management following dozens of consumer complaints, as well as a $100,000 settlement resolving an investigation into Spruce Power 3, LLC, a solar servicing company. In 2024, he secured a $5 million court-imposed judgment against the now-bankrupt Vision Solar over high-pressure sales tactics, misrepresentations, delays, and unpermitted work. Attorney General Tong has now opened investigations into Vision’s financing partners, and reached a settlement with the largest one to force relief to defrauded borrowers. In addition, he has an active lawsuit against SunRun Inc., SunRun Installation Services, Bright Planet Solar, Inc., Elevate Solar Solutions, LLC, and salespeople alleging deceptive, unfair, and otherwise unlawful sales of solar panel systems, including locking consumers into long-term contracts without consent by various means, and impersonating consumers. In 2022, he launched an enforcement action against Solar Wolf Energy over failures to complete, or even begin, promised work. Solar Wolf is now blocked from doing business in Connecticut and has filed for bankruptcy.
Robocalls: In March 2021, Attorney General Tong joined with states across the country and the FTC shutting down a massive telefunding operation that bombarded 67 million consumers with 1.3 billion deceptive fundraising robocalls. Now, Attorney General Tong is among 16 state attorneys general leading the nationwide Anti-Robocall Task Force. That work has yielded significant results to date, including barring 13 bad actor companies from transmitting calls into the United States and causing 19 companies to cease routing suspected illegal robocalls into the country. The task force recently escalated its crackdown and this work remains active and ongoing.. Elder Justice Hotline: In July 2021, Attorney General Tong re-launched the state Elder Justice Hotline, now staffed by the Office of the Attorney General. Since then, he has traveled the state giving presentations at local senior centers warning the public against common scams.
